Without formal art training she began her career as a commercial photographer. However she was drawn back to the wild places, and worked in the Zambezi Valley and in Chobe, Botswana as a guide to foreign tourists until moving to South Africa in the 1980’s.
She only managed to paint in her spare time in the 1980’s and 90’s whilst raising her two sons, but now enjoys painting full time in Oils, Acrylic and Soft Pastels exhibiting together with her son Leon at local shows in South Africa.
Aside from African wildlife, Ingrid also specializes in painting Nguni cattle and horses.
Ingrid and Leon were top sellers in 2010 and 2012 and
have been among the top sellers for the past fourteen
years at Art in the Park in Pietermaritzburg, South
Africa’s largest outdoor selling exhibition. Many of
those fourteen years have been complete sell outs.
Ingrid donates paintings and funds on a regular basis
to conservation projects and is keen to continue her
involvement with projects working on the survival of
endangered species and the protection of the
